Entropiq have announced the signing of the EPG Family roster spearheaded by star AWPer Aleksey “El1an” Gusev. The Czech organization will retain their domestic lineup led by Michal “leckr” Kadlíček, who will play under the Entropiq Prague banner going forward.
The CIS-based team can now breathe a sigh of relief after experiencing several dramatic weeks, which began in late March with hooch & co. deciding to terminate their contracts with Winstrike amidst alleged breaches of obligations by the Russian organization.
Just over a week later, the veteran coach revealed that he and the rest of the team had signed contracts with a different “very respected and quite successful organization in the CIS region” following their exit from Winstrike, only to be informed that the new deal fell through at the last minute due to a lack of budget for the roster.
The signing of the squad currently ranked 21st in the world marks a significant step towards Entropiq‘s goals of becoming an internationally recognized brand. Founded in early 2020, until now the organization has only fielded a Czech team in CS:GO, who have been able to find success on the domestic scene but struggled to make an impact abroad in a year of existence.
“Last year, we won several domestic championships, and regular participation in international tournaments has helped Entropiq gain recognition abroad,” Entropiq’s Managing Director, Ondřej Drebota, said in a statement. “We are convinced that partnering with such a successful team is another step in the right direction.”
“At Entropiq, we have the highest goals, and one of them is to celebrate major success on the international level,” Drebota added. “We keep growing and expanding, and I am very pleased that, while still a young organization, we have already been able to land such a high-profile team.”
hooch‘s side are set to make their debut under the new banner in LOOT.BET Season 9 quarter-finals against Endpoint on Tuesday at 15:50 . Over the course of the next month, they will also compete in the playoffs of REPUBLEAGUE Tipos Season 1, in the EPIC League Regional Major Ranking tournament, and in Elisa Invitational Summer.
Most importantly of all, over four months ahead of the kick-off of ESL Pro League Season 14 the team has already secured a spot in the prestigious league on the back of their triumph in ESEA Premier Season 36 in mid-April.
