Does Dying Light 2 Support Cross-Play?

Date:

Dying Light 2 review

If you’re planning to play Dying Light 2 and make use of its online co-op functions, you might be wondering if it has cross-play. Here’s what you need to know.

If a game is cross-play, it means that you can play with others online even if they’re not on the same console or format as you. Some games, for example, let you play with people on Xbox even if you’re on PlayStation or PC. So: is Dying Light 2 cross-play?

The answer is both yes and no. At launch, players across the Steam version of the game and Epic Games Store version will be able to play together in co-op. That’s great news for PC players.

If you’re on console and looking to make use of cross-play, however, the news isn’t so great. Right now, you can only play with players on the exact same system as you. If you’re on PS5, your co-op partners need to be on PS5. If you’re on Xbox One, your co-op partners need to be on Xbox One. There is even no cross-generational support.

However: Dying Light 2 developer Techland has teased that it plans to support the game for five years. And part of that support will possibly include adding console cross-play at a later date. For now though, you can only play with people on the same format as you.
