Can Sims Lose and Gain Weight in The Sims 4?

Date:

As if worrying about our own weight is bad enough, we’re now also worrying about our sims’ weight. Can your sims lose weight in The Sims 4?

While you can define your sims’ body type and fat level when you create them, the course of playing the game can have an effect. Just like in real life, if your sim sits around all day, eating lots of food, they’ll likely gain weight and get out of shape. While if your sim spends time working on their fitness – exercising, going for runs, and eating healthy meals – they’re more likely to stay in good shape, or even improve their physique.

So yes, the answer is sims can lose and gain weight in The Sims 4. Surprisingly, The Sims 4 has a complex calorie system for all of its food. Each edible item in the game has a calorie value. And so the higher the value of the food your sim eats, the more quickly they’re likely to gain weight. The opposite is also true: eating low-calorie meals like salads will aid them in losing weight.

How a sim loses or gains weight is down to more than just what they do or don’t eat, however. Exercise also plays a part. Your sims have multiple ways of exercising, be it on a piece of gym equipment or simply going for a run. Each minute they spend doing exercise has a positive effect on their body. And, just like in real life, exercising after a big meal can combat the extra calories.

So: if you care about your sims’ appearance and body shape in The Sims 4, it’s wise to watch what they eat and ensure they do regular exercise. Too much lazing on the sofa and eating fatty foods will see them gain that podge.
