It was backyard cricket with a twist – Aussie cricket captain Pat Cummins and his older brothers would wet down the back yard to be as muddy as possible.

Then the fun began as the brothers and their mates played in some seriously slippery and challenging conditions.

After 38 years there, the Cummins family decided to put the Blue Mountains family home on the market, the memories are resurfacing not only for Pat and the family but for family friend and real estate agent Daniel Jennings.

“There’s plenty of things that have gone on in that home, and of course the backyard,” Jennings told The Daily Telegraph in October.

Mr Jennings grew up with Pat and his older brothers, also playing cricket with them.

“We’d go over to their place after cricket and they would wet down the backyard and it was absolutely damaging to each others’ bodies,” he said.

The home sold for $1.6m in October.

Six years ago, this property at Talune St, Lindisfarne was a blank canvas with just grass and a mulberry tree.

But Matthew Wade and wife Julia created a private family sanctuary on the premises – which they decided to part with in May.

Inside the home has a whisper-quiet sanctuary before revealing its complete luxury in the main house — from the sky-high ceilings to the cinema room, the heated pool to the barbecue area, everything has been carefully considered.

The Wade’s decided to sell with plans for another project, but said they’ll miss many things about their creation.

“As it is the first family home that we built, it’ll always hold a special place,” Mrs Wade told The Mercury.

“There are a lot of fond memories that were created here.”

The home ultimately sold for $2.225m in June.

IAN CHAPPELL BUYS

After selling earlier in the year, former captain Ian Chappell and his wife, Barbara-Ann, bought a penthouse at Elanora Heights in a $2.4m of off-market purchase.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom cul-de-sac house offered views from Pittwater to Lion Island from its alfresco wraparound terrace.

The 80-year-old, who captained Australia from 1971 to 1975 while playing 75 Tests for Australia between 1964 and 1980, including being a key figure in World Series Cricket, briefly owned a two-bedroom apartment on the Northern Beaches, and felt comfortable to downsize to the area.
