WOOD7, Tuurtle join MIBR on trial

Date:

Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato and Matheus “Tuurtle” Anhaia have departed Bravos and joined MIBR on a trial basis, confirming an earlier report from ge that stated the pair would make the move to the lineup to replace Bruno “shz” Martinelli and Gustavo “yel” Knittel.

As a part of Bravos, WOOD7 and Tuurtle have found success in 2021, notably winning six domestic titles including the last two Regional Major Ranking events, CBCS Elite League Season 2 and IEM Fall. However, due to losing 40% of their points as a result of roster changes and with only one spot at the PGL Major being on offer to South America, Bravos were unable to convert their tournament victories into a spot in Stockholm.

Tuurtle and WOOD7 are reportedly headed to MIBR

MIBR, meanwhile, have struggled to find success both domestically and in their international tournament bids. Despite topping the first SA RMR event, CBCS Elite League Season 1, back-to-back third place finishes in the ensuing two RMR tournaments saw yel and company fall short to Sharks on the leaderboard by 101 points — narrowly missing out on a spot in the PGL Stockholm Major.

The Immortals-owned organization have also floundered in their BLAST Premier Spring and Fall appearances, in which they are a partner team, going out in last place in the Groups of both seasons as well as at the Spring Showdown. Appearances in the Play-In stages of IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne also saw the team unable to achieve berths to the main event.

The addition of Tuurtle and WOOD7 will provide a much-needed boon to the struggling squad, and breathe new life into the team with a new captain at the helm.

Tuurtle has been Bravos‘ second-highest rated player, boasting a 1.18 rating against domestic opposition in the last three months, while the 26-year-old in-game leader has averaged a 1.13 rating — yel and shz, meanwhile, were MIBR‘s lowest-rated players, averaging 0.99 and 1.00 ratings, respectively.

MIBR are set to travel to Europe on Thursday, where they will prepare to compete in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. The single-elimination, best-of-three bracket offers just two spots at the Fall Finals, with Tuurtle and WOOD7 facing stiff opposition in their debut match for MIBR against Complexity on October 12 at 18:30 .

MIBR now have:

Brazil Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes
Brazil Ricardo “boltz” Prass
Brazil Raphael “exit” Lacerda
Brazil Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato
Brazil Matheus “Tuurtle” Anhaia

Brazil Alessandro “Apoka” Marcucci (coach)

Brazil Gustavo “yel” Knittel (benched)
Brazil Bruno “shz” Martinelli (benched)
