Women In Technology (WIT) Celebrates its Fall 2021 Cyber Security Graduates of the Single Mothers’ Program

“It’s never too late to go after your dream. WIT changed my life forever. WIT is committed to helping women and single moms of diverse backgrounds reach their goals, build confidence, and inspire women to excel in technology careers.” – Trisha Phan, WIT SMP Spring 2022 #1 ranked student.

On Saturday February 5th, another 20 single mothers graduated from Women In Technology’s 12-week Single Mothers’ Program, with each graduate earning a Cyber Security Certificate from Emory University. The graduates of this inaugural class received an average score of 97.76% on course work and are in the process of job placement.

“Penny Collins and Patti Dismukes deserve a lot of praise for their vision and determination to assist unemployed and underemployed single moms, giving them a fighting chance for a rewarding career and a better life,” said Hamid Arjmand, Professional Development Manager at Emory University. “Helping these single moms has changed the trajectory of their lives and their children’s lives. I am so proud to be part of their team, and it has been an honor to observe how dedicated and deserving these single moms are, working hard every day to improve their children’s futures.”

Participants in WIT’s Single Mothers’ Program learn cyber and information security fundamentals while also receiving free of charge wrap-around support, including transportation services, childcare and professional development services, meals during class and laptops for skilling and course work. Upon successful program completion, graduates earn a Cyber Security Certificate from Emory University and are supported by WIT with job search, interviewing skills and job placement.

“It’s never too late to go after your dream. WIT changed my life forever. WIT is committed to helping women and single moms of diverse backgrounds reach their goals, build confidence, and inspire women to excel in technology careers. WIT stood by me every step of the way, providing all the necessary resources for a successful career transition. Thank you for this life-changing opportunity.” said Trisha Phan, WIT Single Mothers’ Program #1 ranked student.

WIT’s Single Mothers’ Program offers educational and skill-building opportunities in the growing world of cyber and information security. WIT is currently finalizing the Spring 2022 class, which kicks off on April 23, 2022, making it the third program offering of its kind.

“I am so proud of this program and the incredible single mothers. These women are determined, smart, caring and hopeful for the new chapter in their lives. To go from making less than $36K a year to $60K or more is life changing for these women and their children. WIT is making a difference!” said Patti Dismukes, Board President of Women In Technology

WIT has already placed half of the mothers who just graduated the program into new careers at companies such as Cox Automotive, Rollins, Inc and Cisco, with several others actively interviewing. You can read more about our WIT Single Mothers’ Program here.
