A builder’s own Bali-inspired home is offering househunters a lifetime of fun and luxury coupled with enviable views in a tranquil, private locale.

Cherri Gant and her husband Wayne are selling their Williamstown property at 32 Harvey’s Quarry Rd that they bought about eight years ago.

They were attracted to it because of its location and opportunity to create a family home on a grand scale.

“We had lived in Lyndoch for about 18 years before we moved here, and it was just that view that hooked us,” Mrs Gant says.

“We’ve got water views in the Barossa, and that grabbed us straight away.

“That and we wanted room for the kids, so this big block was perfect and it gave us the space to build our dream home.

“We wanted to create a great entertainer.

“A lot of the furnishing we’ve styled in a Bali style – we bought our furniture from there, all of our tiles and bathtubs have come from there.

“We just wanted that warm feeling and we really wanted to live outside as much as possible, so there’s a big area we enclose with blinds and use in winter and then in summer we can open it up.

“That view is amazing – every day there’s a different sunset.”

The L-shaped home has two distinct wings – one with four bedrooms, a home theatre, a games room, a bathroom and a mud room, and the other with the master suite, a laundry and a store room.

In the middle you’ll find the open-plan kitchen dining and living room that opens to the spacious covered outdoor area that flows to an inground pool and fire pit area.

“We’ve had a couple of big parties here and because the kids have lots of friends, we’ve hosted plenty of gatherings and even had a band here for my birthday,” Mrs Gant says.

“I’m super proud of what my husband built.

“It really is massive and I really wish we’d done this 20 years ago.”

Now looking to return to Adelaide’s metro coastline where they originated from, Mrs Gant says they will terribly miss the home they say would be ideal for another active family.

“Because we’re on nearly 10 acres, the kids have built motorbike tracks, so there’s plenty of room for them, and ample space for the dog,” she says.

“But the kids are all older and leaving, so it’s just too big for us now.

“You could definitely run livestock here – we’ve decided not to just because of how we wanted to use it – but our neighbours run sheep and the property would really lend itself to that.

“Plus the location is great – it’s not far to the city and we’re 45 to 50 minutes from the beach.”

The property is being sold without a price guide.
