Townsville’s top sales in the city’s most expensive streets have been revealed, and it is not a Castle Hill locale that took out the number one spot.

Palm Street in Rowes Bay, with a median street value of $1.965m tops the list, and is home to some of the city’s most well-heeled residents.

That is more than double the runner-up, which sold for $2.375 million in May last year.

The cheapest recorded sale on the street was for $104,000 in 1993, publicly available records show.

Coming in second place is Victoria St in North Ward with a median street value of $1.85 million.

The top sale in that street was $4.5 million – equal to the Rowes Bay record.

It sold in April 2022 and was $1.6 million higher that its closest rival, which sold for $2.4 million in March last year.

Balmoral Drive on Castle Hill – Townsville’s most expensive suburb – came in third place with a median street value of $1.25 million.

There, the top recorded sale was set in August 2021 when a modern five-bedroom residence on a 1617sq m block changed hands for $2.3 million.

Alexandra St in North Ward came in fourth spot, with a median street value of $1.12 million, according to analysis by Ray White Group.

And rounding out the top five was Yarrawonga Drive on Castle Hill at $1.05 million.

But the top sale on the street is held by a five bedroom joise on a 1023sq m block that sold for $3.2 million in 2021.

The current Townsville house price record is $6 million. That result was achieved after 1300 Smiles founder Daryl Holmes bought 32 Stirling Drive on Castle Hill off-market in October 2020 from businessman Adam Carmichael and wife Daniella.

But that could be smashed if a marina residence owned by Mendi Group managing director Jeff Doyle and his wife Natasha on Sir Leslie Thiess Drive achieves its asking price of $9.58 million.

It was first listed for $9.85 million and sits on three lots totalling 1243sq m, with each lot boasting its own marina berth.
