World of Warcraft Shadowands’ Patch 9.1, Chains of Domination has been live for two weeks, meaning players have gotten to partake in Mythic+, making use of the new class changes as well as the new Mythic+ affix. Now that the dust is starting to settle, here are our top 5 melee DPS for Mythic+ in Shadowlands.

At 13 total specializations, Melee DPS is the most abundant role in the game. This makes choosing our top five difficult. We already gave our DPS rankings, here are our melee rankings.

#1 – Windwalker Monk

Windwalker Monks have one of the highest profiles in the game when it comes to Mythic+. They have high area of effect damage and great single-target damage, and can finish it off with an execute in the form of Touch of Death — which will be very useful to finish off the new affix mobs. They also bring strong utility in the form of Tiger’s Lust, Leg Sweep and Ring of Peace. They do high amounts of damage, bring utility and have their fair share of defensive cooldowns.

#2 – Outlaw Rogue

Outlaw Rogues are the specialization with the best on-demand crowd control in Mythic+. Gouge, Blind, Kidney Stone, Cheap Shop — all have their great uses in their own right.

Apart from their ability CC, Outlaw Rogues, and the rogue class for that matter, also bring survivability in the form of Feint, Evasion, and Cloak and Shadows, with a hint of self-sustain with Crimson Vial. Plus they can sap targets and use Shroud of Concealment to skip troublesome trash packs.

#3 – Havoc Demon Hunter

As one of the most mobile specializations in the game, Havoc Demon Hunter is the perfect specialization to handle tough, mobility-based mechanics all while outputting high amounts of damage. Similar to the two specializations above them, they also bring their own form of survivability, and, like rogues, they can create a skip in the form of their Imprison. They are also one of the few melee classes to provide a party-wide defensive cooldown with their Darkness.

#4 – Fury Warrior

As one of the two classes that only really bring raw damage, Fury Warriors provide solid overall DPS. From AoE, to single target, to cleave, they can hold their own. Although not as mobile as the ones above them, they can still manage. They also bring Battle Shout, which is great for melee-heavy groups. And, like Demon Hunters, they provide a party-wide defensive cooldown with their Rallying Cry.

#5 – Unholy Death Knight

Similar to Fury Warrior, this specialization is based more around the DPS it deals rather than the small utility it brings. Unholy Death Knights are great at single target with high damage profiles and solid AoE burst windows. Death Knights are also the only class with the ability to grip targets, which can come in handy with affixes such as Sanguine and are the only other melee class with a party-wide defensive with Anti-Magic Zone.
