The Carbon-bola: A Round-up! – The Carbon Literacy Project

Date:

On Monday 7th August, our Carbon-bola – the Carbon Literacy Tombola – came to an end, and we are now delighted to announce that a winner has been chosen!

With the aim of helping encourage access to and activity in the outdoors, the Carbon-bola was a prize draw where one lucky individual would win a bundle of Patagonia goodies to help on their outdoor adventures. It was also our chance to celebrate the recent launch of the Carbon Literacy Sports Kit.

We’re blown away that, as a result, we raised £2,199 from over 330 individual donors – all of whom have chosen to support our charity and in doing so, have provided us with vital support that will further enable us to expand on our impact and help bring Carbon Literacy, and therefore climate action, to new heights.

Onto the winner!

We’re excited to share that Brian Stockton, from South London, has been selected as the winner of our Carbon-bola!

Last week, we caught up with Brian to hear his response to his summer winnings.

Congratulations on winning the Carbon-bola! How will you use your Patagonia prizes?

“This kit will come in great for our family camping and walking trips to North Yorkshire National Park and beyond.”

How did you find Carbon Literacy & why did you choose to support us?

“I found Carbon Literacy to be an exciting development in the workplace, with day-long sessions held by my employer Transport for London. A well-structured and delivered course and follow-up submission with the Carbon pledges for all attending staff. Carbon Literacy training is effective in highlighting the problems and costs of unabated carbon consumption, promotes self and business-wide empowerment and a wider vision of a stronger, proactive culture necessary to change behaviours and effectively reduce carbon consumption across organisations at work and at home.”

Congratulations once again, Brian!

Community Support

During our Carbon-bola campaign, we received countless messages from our incredible Carbon Literacy community that reminded us of our far-reaching support and impact, and for that, we are truly grateful.

Here are just some of the encouraging messages and words of support we received:

“I hope my donation goes some way to make a change happen.”

“Thank you for the essential work you are doing.”

“Proud to be Carbon Literate and wishing more people join me!”

“I have benefitted from the Carbon Literacy training and share my learning wherever possible. CLP is bringing so much to the climate change table.”

“Anything to support Klimawandel as they say in Germany – climate change and Carbon Literacy.”

“A great course for the sports sector to help influence change. Happy to support The Project developing further.”

“It’s never been more important to raise awareness.”

“Thank you for everything you are doing. Keep up the good work!”

Thank you!

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who entered and supported our summer Carbon-bola, whether that be through making a donation or following along on our social media channels. Your support means the world to all of us here at The Carbon Literacy Project, and we hope we have gone a little way in encouraging you to protect and explore the outdoors.
