The fifth luxury Gisborne house from the 2022 season of The Block: Tree Change has finally sold, but with a disappointing result for the contestants that built it.

For months after the show’s auctions took place, Queensland couple Jenny Heath and Dylan Adams were the only team not to have sold their house, after it was passed in at auction when it failed to get a bid over its $4.08m reserve.

The house sold privately in February – but no sale price was publicly revealed. The Herald Sun reported that the final sale price was $3.9m – $180,000 less than the auction day reserve.

Perhaps the most brutal part of the final sale price is that it is also $175k less than the highest offer made for the house on auction day, of $4,075,000.

That offer was knocked back in what were wild and dramatic scenes between Jenny and their auctioneer, with the home among several to pass in during the show’s 2022 season finale.

Realestate.com.au reported in February that the 5ha Gisborne property had finally sold under private treaty to a “lovely family” who were new to the area and reportedly “fell in love” with the house.

The sale price puts Dylan and Jenny firmly at the bottom of the leaderboard for the most recent season, with an overall earnings amount of nothing.

It also puts them among a handful of teams in the show’s 18-season history to have walked away from their gruelling months filming with zero prize money.

Jenny told Channel 9 shortly after auction day that she was “p####d off” that their property failed to meet reserve.

‘’I know [the houses] are worth $6 million, but people don’t have that kind of money at the moment,’’ she said.

The result brought to a close a year of massive highs and lows for The Block.

Friends Omar Slaimankhel and Osman “Oz” Said walked away with $1,686,666.66 after their house, known as House 5, sold for $5,666,666.66 — a hefty $1,586,666.66 over the home’s reserve of $4.08m.

The boys added another $100,000 to their prize pool as the winning team of the season.

Meanwhile season favourites Tom and Sarah-Jane brought the auction mood crashing down to earth when their house was sold for just $20,000 over its reserve.

Omar and Oz are the biggest Block winners ever, stark contrast to the result of Dylan and Jenny.

Couples Rachel and Ryan, and Ankur and Sharon both made around $170,000 respectively.

After the mixed results of the ‘Tree Change’ season, the show is well underway filming its 19th season in Melbourne’s bayside suburb of Hampton East.
