One use of the DualSense controller that we adored in Astro’s Playroom is the way some levels allow you to feel the sensation of raindrops in your hands. It’s something that developers have been hesitant to replicate, so hats off to Rockstar for going the extra mile in GTA 5. The developer’s upcoming next-gen remaster actually sounds like it will use the full range of PlayStation 5 features, including the ability to feel Los Santos’ weather.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, here’s what it said specifically of PS5’s innovative controller: “Feel every moment of the action through the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers and advanced haptic feedback, giving players the ability to experience new sensations such as changes in the road surface texture, additional sensations from specific weather effects, directional damage, feedback from explosions, and more.” Sounds great!
We get some wide-angle shots of Los Santos both during day and night, some cinematic gameplay shots from the online mode, and a look at the story’s trio of iconic protagonists – Trevor, Michael, and Franklin sure are looking fresh. The release will have three graphics modes when it launches, one blending 60 frames-per-second with raytracing, which is welcome. Will it be a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade? We don’t know.
Another week has concluded, but there's no let up in the release schedule. Gran Turismo 7 is out now on PlayStation consoles, and we're honestly struggling to keep up with all the gaming goodness.
Okay, we could get behind the Elvis Presley song and even the moon landing footage, but this is just weird. Gran Turismo 7’s prestige vehicles, Legend Cars, will have their in-game prices dynamically altered by real-world insurance and valuation specialists, Hagerty. This means, as the price of a specific model changes in real-life, those fluctuations will be reflected in-game.
You’ll find Hagerty branding all over the virtual dealership that houses the Legend Cars, and even company CEO McKeel Hagerty will make a cameo. The idea is that the in-game prices – which range anywhere from 150,000 Credits to 20,000,000 Credits – will rise and fall in lockstep with their real-world counterparts. We think this is innocent, but given the news on the release’s controversial microtransactions, it doesn’t take a cynic to start raising eyebrows.
The long-awaited next-generation upgrades for both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will soon be hitting digital stores as Rockstar Games today announced that both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S release will arrive on March 15th.
