Believe it or not, but we are three days and some change away from at last playing Elden Ring. The highly anticipated game by FromSoftware has ruled the headlines for months now, and this week is when you will finally have the game in your hands. Unless you already have it and are spoiling things, that is. On that note, this is something that’s happened. Elden Ring PC release times are live, but FromSoftware is warning folks that spoilers have been making the rounds.
With games as ambiguous as FromSoftware releases, Elden Ring spoilers may not be too worrisome. For the most part, it’s believed that most of the game’s lore will be hidden away, much like that in Dark Souls and Bloodborne. However, no one wants to see any of those boss battles. You know those fights are the among the top reasons these games are so enjoyable. So, if you don’t have the game already, please avoid sharing any spoilers for Elden Ring — story or otherwise. For the rest of us, it...
Elden Ring releases on February 25, and the game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. With so many supported platforms, so you might be wondering if Elden Ring supports cross-play. Unfortunately, it doesn't completely support it, but you still have a way to enjoy the game with your friends on another system if you choose the right version.
Elden Ring cross-gen support
Elden Ring has what's known as "cross-gen" play, meaning those playing the game with someone in the same console family can do so together. If you're playing on Xbox One and your friend is on Xbox Series X, for instance, you can play together. The same rule also applies for those buying on PS5 and PS4. If you know your friend is getting the game on PS5 yet and you don't have one yet, you can plan on buying the PS4 version.
Elden Ring cross-play support
Elden Ring does not support full cross-play. If you are playing on a PlayStation system, you will only be able to play with other PlayStation users. The same goes for Xbox and PC, respectively.
Elden Ring current-gen upgrade
One nice bonus is if you don't have a new console yet but want to start playing Elden Ring, it includes a free current-gen upgrade in the same console family. Start it on Xbox One and through Smart Delivery, you get the Xbox Series X|S version for free. The same goes with PS4 to PS5, though you'll likely have to ensure you've downloaded the correct version because it doesn't use a Smart Delivery system.
If you can overlook its flaws, Enchanted Arms has a lot to offer; a light-hearted adventure caper with a fun battle system, some real challenge and depth, plenty of laughs and that comfy, JRPG atmosphere that felt like it went missing for quite some time during the Xbox 360 generation.
Still undecided on Elden Ring? This trailer will probably do the trick. While it does go quite heavy on locations and enemies – definitely avoid it if you’re on a blackout – it basically digs into everything you can expect from the upcoming FromSoftware open world RPG, spanning traversal to combat and everything in between. Honestly, it all looks phenomenal.
To be honest, it’s a shame this is launching so closely to Horizon Forbidden West, because both deserve to be explored thoroughly. This is truly an incredible trailer, though – the Rockstar marketing blueprint just works perfectly here – and will definitely get your pulse racing as you wait for the title to launch towards the tail-end of next week.
