Sam Ehlinger to Start for Colts in Week 18

Date:

Indianapolis Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday has announced a new starter for their final game of the season. Sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger will start for a banged up Nick Foles in Week 18, who is “really sore” according to Saturday.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday afternoon.

Foles was the third starting quarterback on the 2022-2023 season for the Colts. They began with Matt Ryan who was benched for cap reasons, but then reactivated as the starter for Saturday’s first game. Ehlinger started two games and came into yesterday’s game in relief of Foles. The Colts were 0-3 in those games.

Ehlinger has completed 41 of 62 passes for 364 yards in his three appearances, throwing just one touchdown and one interception. He’s also taken 12 sacks behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL.
