There have been rumors that Capcom is going to put the popular horror game on Steam after a rating for the original Resident Evil PC version was discovered through PEGI’s website. Gematsu discovered a listing for Resident Evil on PC with a June 18 release date.

Resident Evil is arguably the best horror game out there that has consistently delivered for over a decade. Fans of the game often refer to the original RE 1996 as one of the best games in the franchise and the latest rating by PEGI suggests that the game might get a rerelease in the coming days.

Which version of Resident Evil is slated for PC distribution, if this PEGI designation indeed signals a re-release? Given the fact that the original version of the game is not available on any digital marketplaces. We might see a remastered version of the game, modded with graphics that look good for a 2024 game.

Before concluding anything, it would be safe to take these rumors with a pinch of salt. The rating doesn’t necessarily confirm a rerelease and while it might be a glitch, despite the rumors blowing up, PEGI has not removed the rating from their website.

Only time can tell if we will get a new RE game until then, simply hold your horses.
