The main residence also features an impressive cellar with built-in shelving to accommodate more than 5000 bottles of wine, while outside a heritage-listed bush sanctuary, featuring exotic plants, awaits.

Offered to the market for the first time in over 50 years, selling agent Matt Kenny, of Ray White Mount Barker, said he expected plenty of buyer interest when the 8.7ha property heads to auction next month.

“I think it will appeal to families and couples looking for a private retreat that is still only minutes from Stirling and 30 minutes to Adelaide,” he said.

“The pool house, in particular, is a special addition and something unique (that) can be used all-year-round and is separate to the main residence.

“It also keeps snakes and other wildlife out and offers a beautiful view over bushland that has heritage listed vegetation (on it).

“The (main) residence is also warm and inviting with high, raked timber ceilings, polished floorboards, and large picture windows showcasing spectacular views over the garden and to the treescape beyond.”

Vendor William Henzell said the sale was bitter sweet, particularly for his parents who commissioned the construction of the home in the early 70s.

He said growing up on the property has been a childhood dream, with plenty of nearby bush tracks to discover and using the space to host gatherings with family and friends.

“My parents had hoped to live there for the rest of their days but the reality is that they are now getting on and need to be closer to family,” Mr Henzell said.

“It would be nice to see another family take it on but it would suit a range of buyers.

“The main thing is that it has to be someone who loves the bush scenery and someone who wants to live life a little quieter.

“Growing up, we had dogs and chickens and even grew our own vegetables.

“There’s also a mature orchard, so it’s quite a versatile place that has brought a lot of joy to our family for many years and hopefully soon someone else.”

The property will be auctioned without a price guide at 4pm on October 4.
