Overwatch League: JJoNak Leaves Seoul Dynasty

Date:

Sung-hyeon “JJoNak” Bang parts ways with Seoul Dynasty ahead of the Overwatch League 2022 Season debuts.

Four months after joining Seoul Dynasty and with no match played with the team, JJoNak announces taking some time away from competitive Overwatch. The Inaugural Season MVP suffers from health issues and needs time to recover.

JJoNak is one of the most iconic players from the Overwatch League. He signed with New York Excelsior for the Inauguring Season and led the team to a streak of victories. NYXL dominated the first season of the Overwatch League, always ending either first or second in all monthly tournaments. The team didn’t manage to win the Playoffs, but JJoNaK was still awarded MVP of the Overwatch League Inaugural Season.

JJoNaK stayed with New York for four years, playing every single map since the team’s creation. His Zenyatta plays and strategies became legendary, turning JJoNaK into a reference for all flex support players.

After the Overwatch League 2021 Season, NYXL parted ways with its entire roster. JJoNaK didn’t stay long without a team and joined Seoul Dynasty a few days later. He joined the Overwatch League Inaugural Season Playoffs MVP Joon-yeong “Profit” Park and the promising roster of Seoul.

Today, Seoul Dynasty shares the news of JJoNaK’s decision to step down from professional Overwatch. The player explains having an ongoing health issue that recently got worse. As he doesn’t feel like he can perform to his best, JJoNaK decided to take a break from the Overwatch League and do live streaming instead.

The departure of JJoNaK means that Young-wan “Creative” Kim will be the only flex support player for Seoul Dynasty. The team still needs a tank to complete its roster.
