Blizzard Entertainment revealed a new event for Overwatch featuring Cole Cassidy: the New Blood Challenge.
The event announcement was made in the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 7, via the verified Overwatch Twitter account. The tweet offered a short bit of text featuring an accompanying video clip that referrenced the cowboy’s ultimate ability call sign of “High Noon.” In the clip, several various styles of analog clocks were shown ticking down to noon. It ended with Cassidy, himself, in a new sand-colored outfit, speaking his trademark line.

Unfortunately, not much information is currently known about the New Blood Challenge event. We only have the dates at the time of writing—Tuesday, Nov. 9 through to Nov. 23.
The prize is a new skin for the cowboy hero, himself, featuring a new dusty scarf with tan, beige, and sandy-yellow tones making up the majority of the outfit.
Fans have begun speculating that this is a simple “skin challenge” event in which players will need to play or win a certain number of games as Cassidy to get his new skin. Others are hoping that the event will be less of a sparse collection of challenges and more of a proper introduction to the character’s new name.
They have since cited the apparent desire by the Overwatch team to turn the name change into a larger chunk of content to—hopefully—integrate it within the game’s lore. It is their understanding that this is why a chunk of content surrounding Cassidy had been delayed.
More information will likely be made available as the event draws closer.
