MPL MY Season 13: A record breaking opening weekend comes to a close | GosuGamers

Date:

MPL Malaysia’s first week of Season 13 broke a few records over the recent weekend, with all ten teams beginning their run in an attempt to reach MSC 2024.

Over the recent weekend, we had the Mobile Legends Professional League kick off its thirteenth season in Malaysia. Having been on a break for some time, the teams came back refreshed and ready to fight to be champions of the region, and possibly make their way through to the newly revamped Mid-Season Cup (MSC) which will be part of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh later this year. With a whole host of new teams and some name changes too, the Malaysian crowds came out in numbers to support their favourites.

On the opening day, more than 1200 fans showed up at the new MPL MY Stadium MBSJ Serdan Jaya to watch the reigning champions, HomeBois, take on the Red Giants Esports – and what a series they witnessed as the favourites went down 0-2. Over the entire weekend, a total of over 3500 spectators showed up for the first week of action, breaking the record for MPL MY’s history. With format changes, new team rankings and the reduced playoff spots – as well as the massive prize pool for MSC, more lovers of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang want to cheer on their favourite teams.

The rollercoaster weekend of results from MY continued with RSG Malaysia losing one, and newly arrived King Empire winning both their opening series. While the loss from HB was surprising, Todak opened strong, and Team HAQ started with a mix of results. This leaves the window very wide open for Week 2, as RG hope to continue on their currently unbeaten record.

From April 5th, 2024 through to the 7th, the teams will be back in action with another jam-packed weekend of MPL MY Season 13 action. It will be interesting to see if HB can finally pick things up, or if their reign in MY has come to an end.
