When the Pogovon Empire invaded the planet of Cocodu, capturing all the cocos in the process, it was all with the very best of intentions. Before long though came the realisation that deadly weapons could be extracted from those same cocos. And that’s where things in El Gancho started to go wrong. Thankfully, your trusty laser-hook is here to save the day.
Crazy premise aside, El Gancho releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch to deliver the latest gaming experience from the Eastasiasoft team. Having first been created by the development studio of Casiopea Wave, it now hits consoles for the price of £5.79.
It has you playing out proceedings as a joyous little coco, as you attempt to save your race from utter destruction. It’s up to you to make your way through a variety of levels, navigating and traversing the obstacles at hand via the power of your trusty laser-hook. It’s this which will let you swing your way to success.
Multiple playable coco types are present in El Gancho, each of which comes with their own skills, whilst the promise of upgrades to those makes things more interesting still. Throw in a challenge mode, a number of boss fights and a rather fun little visual style, and we’ve got some decently high hopes for this little Eastasiasoft platformer.

Now they’ve devised evil plans to extract that happiness to power their deadly weapons. El Gancho is set in the same universe as Task Force Kampas, but this time there’s no help around. Play as a coco that finds an experimental laser-hook and swing your way through cosmic platforming stages in retro pixel art style! Search for your friends and destroy those imperial super weapons! The faster you move, the longer your trail becomes, and your trail can be used to wipe out enemies! Every run is randomly generated and unique, giving you a world of reasons to keep coming back and pushing your skills further.
