La Compagnie plans to resume flights to New York after 15-month absence

Date:

The French all-business carrier, La Compagnie announced late last week that it will be resuming services to New York, following a 15-month absence from New York’s Newark International Airport (EWR). The French airline stated that it had to immediately suspend flight operations in March 2020, due to travel restrictions imposed by the United States “on individuals without citizenship or permanent resident status.”

Despite not being able to operate flights to the United States, according to La Compagnie, it was able to survive the decrease in passenger demand thanks to provisions put in place by the French Government in addition to receiving increased flexibility from stakeholders and employees. The airline also pivoted away from its commercial flight operations during 2020 and began to offer worldwide charter flights using its Airbus A321neo.

Now the carrier is looking forward to resuming flights to the United States, in a company statement, the President of La Compagnie, Christian Vernet said “We’re now happy to be planning our return to the skies and to offer our passengers the best business class service.”

If travel restrictions are lifted between the United States and Europe, La Compagnie stated that it plans to bring back its service between Paris Orly Airport (ORY) and New York’s Newark International Airport (EWR) in June. The carrier also added that it hopes to bring back its seasonal service between Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport (NCE) and Newark International Airport (EWR) by early July.

The French airline was founded back in 2014, stating that it offers customers “competitively low-business class fares.” La Compagnie Airbus A321neo is fitted with 76 full-flat seats offering passengers a “unique dining experience.” The all-business-class airline added that it hopes American and French customers will continue “to express their desire to get back onboard La Compagnie’s new A321neo aircraft.”

However, it is still very much unclear as to when exactly international borders between the EU and the United States will reopen to tourists, with negotiations between the European Commission and the United States still ongoing. La Compagnie concluded by stating it will release a definite flight schedule when it received confirmation about “travel restrictions between international borders.”
