La Compagnie has announced it will be launching one-stop services to Tel Aviv and direct flights to Milan from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) operated by the carrier’s Airbus A321neo fleet. The latest decision follows a previous announcement to expand elsewhere in Europe from Newark.
La Compagnie’s latest decision comes as it prepares for a post-COVID future in which it says, will mean lower demand on connections between the French capital, Paris and Newark. “In a post Covid-19 era we anticipate a lower demand on our New York-Paris route, therefore we need to diversify our destinations offering and look for alternative routes for our second aircraft,” the airline’s President, Christian Vernet.
Year-round services
The summer season is due to be an interesting one for La Compagnie. The airline will be operating year-round services from Paris Orly to Newark twice weekly through June, before increasing to 4 weekly in July, 5 in August and finally daily by September 2021. Services between the two airports resumed on 12 June 2021, having been interrupted by COVID-19. La Compagnie says it achieved a 100% load factor on the first four flights it operated since then.
In addition, the carrier will be launching a new year-round service connecting Milan Malpensa (MXP) with Newark Liberty (EWR). Effective 29 November 2021, La Compagnie will add four weekly connections between the two cities. “Milan is a strong long-term route with a balanced mix of business and leisure passengers traveling throughout the year,” explains La Compagnie President, Christian Vernet.
Seasonal flights
Seasonal flights to Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport (NCE) will continue this year, operating thrice weekly through till the end of September 2021. Complementing the flights to the French leisure destination, services to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion will be launched from Paris Orly, with well-timed connections from Newark (EWR). The operation will begin on July 21 through till October 30, 2021.
Vernet continued: “Over the past several weeks, we see have seen an increasing demand for flights to Israel out of the United States. Our 100% Smart Business Class product is the perfect fit for this high-end clientele, and we strongly believe this is an opportunity for our airline to upgrade its summer program. Our human-sized nature enables us to be flexible and to launch a new route that quickly.”

La Compagnie hopes, with the latest move, to sustain its Business Model in a post-COVID environment. It’s clear that while the Business Class-only model worked prior to the pandemic, such could be difficult to maintain in the coming years.
