Starter Plus bundles include 7kg carry-on and 20kg checked baggage, as well as standard seat selection and a meal, while Flex includes 7kg of carry-on baggage, standard or upfront seat selection, date and time changes, free same-day changes, and cancellations for credit vouchers. Flex Plus combines both bundles, and adds origin or destination changes, though fare differences may apply.

Additionally, Flex and Flex Plus passengers are able to earn Qantas points on all flights, while basic Starter and Starter Plus passengers can only earn Qantas points on domestic flights within New Zealand.

“We know that some travellers prefer to travel light, with just an added seat and bag, and our new Starter Plus Bundle caters for exactly that,” said Jetstar’s executive manager, customer, Jenn Armor.

“For travellers looking for more comfort and flexibility, our Flex Plus is a one stop shop, with upfront seating, a meal, checked bags, same day flight changes at no extra charge and the option to cancel the booking for a credit voucher.

“We look forward to hearing feedback from our customers on the refreshed bundles, as we continue to roll out improvements for customers right across our business and operation.”

The revamp comes soon after Jetstar welcomed two new A321neo (NEO) aircraft to its fleet.

Jetstar is expecting another five A321neos by the end of the 2024 calendar year, as part of a total order of 38 A321neo LR and XLR aircraft by 2029. The airline has also ordered an initial 10 A320neos to replace its existing A320ceo fleet, the first five of which are scheduled to arrive within the 2025 financial year.

The first NEO was delivered to Jetstar at the end of July 2022. The airline says the NEO’s more fuel-efficient LEAP engines burn up to 20 per cent less fuel than Jetstar’s previous A321 planes and are up to 50 per cent quieter.

Jetstar last month marked 20 years of operation with a special anniversary flight between Newcastle and Avalon.
