We are thrilled to announce two of our Aurora Institute Symposium 2023 keynote speakers: Sharif El-Mekke, CEO and Founder of the Center for Black Educator Development, and Alcine Mumby, Vice President of Program & Director of the Deeper Learning Leadership Forum of Envision Learning Partners.

Alcine Mumby will kick off the Symposium on Monday with the keynote Building Liberatory Assessment Systems: Performance Assessment as an Equity Strategy. With over 25 years of teaching and leading traditional and public charter K-12 schools, Alcine is bringing her experience developing high-performance assessment systems that center student-led demonstrations of learning.

The fun doesn’t stop there! Sharif El-Mekke is joining us for Tuesday’s lunch keynote address, Re-Building the Black Teacher Pipeline: Attracting, Retaining, and Sustaining a More Inclusive Teacher Workforce for Today and Tomorrow. Sharif served as a nationally recognized principal and U.S. Department of Education Principal Ambassador Fellow. He was recognized by President Obama and Oprah Winfrey and received the prestigious EPIC award for his leadership in improving student achievement.

We are excited for these meaningful conversations led by Alcine and Sharif. Don’t miss the chance to learn and be inspired to build a more just and equitable learning environment for all students.
