Ever wanted to really ruin your opponent’s hope for a successful play? Here’s how to rob home runs in MLB The Show 21.

In reality, “robbing a home run” isn’t as glamorous as it sounds. It’s really just a fancy way of saying “catching a fly-ball” or leaping up to snatch the ball from the air before it hits the stands. Normally, if the ball leaves the field, it’s an automatic home run for the offensive team. It can also be a fun experience for fans in the stands who might have the opportunity to catch that ball, themselves.

After all, who wouldn’t want a schadenfreude memento?

We’ll spare you the technical details and go straight to what you should be looking for on-screen. Basically, if a ball it hit with enough height in its assumed trajectory, it will have a shot at leaving the field. This is denoted by a set of three glowing arrows pointing up against the back wall.

The placement of the arrows is where the ball’s path is headed. At the start of this play, they will be yellow, and each arrow will slowly tick green from bottom to top as the ball gets closer. If you want to grab that ball and rob the offensive team of their home run, you’ll need to be at that point with the arrows along the back wall when the top arrow turns green.

Once that happens, hit R1 (PlayStation) or RB (Xbox) to jump, scale the wall, and successfully nab the fly-ball.

Don’t get discouraged if your timing is off or you don’t manage to pull off this play on your first try. Timing is everything—so it could take a few attempts to hit that sweet spot. Good luck!
