Pecharunt is currently unavailable to obtain in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. In fact, we aren’t even supposed to know about it yet. Oops! Thanks to data mining, we know that Pecharunt will become available in a future update and is tied to an upcoming in-game story event.

According to @CentroLeaks on X, the event is “around 1 hour long,” which would make it the longest in the history of the series. The event takes place after the conclusion of The Indigo Disk DLC and reveals some interesting details about certain characters.

What is Pecharunt?

If Pecharunt looks familiar, that’s because it was previously teased in The Teal Mask as part of The Loyal Three and Ogerpon’s tale. Pecharunt is based on the Japanese folklore hero Momotarō (Peach Boy).

Momotarō was a boy born from a peach who left his parents to fight Oni, demonic creatures often compared to ogres. During his travels, he met a talking dog, pheasant, and monkey. Sound familiar? Based on its folktale inspiration and Pokédex entries, it seems that Pecharunt was the one to corrupt The Loyal Three.

Scarlet Pokédex: “It feeds others toxic mochi that draw out desires and capabilities. Those who eat the mochi fall under Pecharunt’s control, chained to its will.

Violet Pokédex: “Its peach-shaped shell serves as storage for a potent poison. It makes poisonous mochi and serves them to people and Pokémon.

Pecharunt type, stats, ability, and signature move

Pecharunt is a Poison/Ghost-type Pokémon and the only Mythical in Generation 9 so far. It changes form when in and out of battle, similar to Terapagos.

Pecharunt signature move: Malignant Chain

Malignant Chain is Pecharunt’s signature move. It deals damage and has a 50% chance of badly poisoning the opponent, which will also confuse it, thanks to Poison Puppeteer.
