Heroic, Complexity and Dignitas all emerge victorious at BLAST Showdown

Date:

The first game of the day saw Heroic take on POGGERZ, and the result went much as expected, the Danes taking the series 2-0 on Mirage and Nuke. They move on to face Dignitas in the quarter-final on Friday.

POGGERZ made the maps much closer than many expected, getting to double figures on both, without really ever threatening to win either. Shuaib “D0cC” Ahmad did the majority of the heavy lifting for his team, posting an impressive 98 ADR across the series on his way to a 1.27 rating.

As for Heroic it was Martin “stavn” Lund and Casper “cadiaN” Møller who led the way, with a 1.44 and 1.42 rating respectively.

For our second match we saw Dignitas taking on Fiend in a game that was tough to call either way; the last time the two sides met we saw two very close 16-13 wins for the Bulgarians, on Mirage and Nuke.

We got exactly the same maps once again for this series, but the reverse result, this time the Swedes taking both maps, 16-9 on Mirage and 16-13 on Nuke. This earns Dignitas a quarter-final spot against Heroic on Friday.

Dignitas will be particularly pleased with the way they recovered from a 13-2 deficit on Nuke, shutting out Fiend on the CT side with 14 straight rounds to romp to victory. Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg was the pick of the bunch in this series, the veteran rifler producing a vintage performance to guide his team to victory.

The final series of the day saw Complexity face MIBR, the Brazilians winning their pick of Ancient 16-11 before getting beaten on Nuke and Overpass, 16-12 and 16-9 respectively. Complexity will take on either OG or paiN in the quarter-finals on Friday.

It was an encouraging performance for an MIBR team who have just recently acquired two new players, AWPer Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato in particular impressing with some excellent clutches. As for Complexity, it was Benjamin “blameF” Bremer and Justin “jks” Savage who were far ahead at the top of the scoreboard across the series.
