FURIA outclass MIBR to book playoffs spot in ESL Pro League

Date:

FURIA have booked their third consecutive victory in Group C in ESL Pro League after a convincing performance in the Brazilian derby against MIBR (2-0; Overpass 16-8, Inferno 16-8).

Andrei “arT” Piovezan and company and Gambit are currently tied for first place in the group, with both teams sitting on a 3-0 record and already securing at least a top-three finish and a place in the playoffs as a result. The last spot is up for grabs between the remaining four teams ahead of the last two rounds of the round-robin.

FURIA got off to a flying start in the series on Overpass, after they put up a wall on the defense despite losing early forcebuy battles, with arT, Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo, and Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato all pitching in with key multikills to seize control in the first gunrounds.

MIBR only clinched one more round by the end of the half thanks to Gustavo “yel” Knittel‘s 1v3 clutch and found themselves between a rock and a hard place when they were unable to convert a pistol round win into some momentum at the beginning of the second half, and FURIA rallied to a 16-8 win on the opener.

arT dominated the Brazilian matchup

Things went from bad to worse for MIBR on Inferno, which FURIA played for the first time officially since adding Paytyn “junior” Johnson. Their opponents ran rampant on the Terrorist side outside of a four-round run that went the other way, and it was all smooth sailing from FURIA from there on as FURIA locked in a 2-0 victory with a near-perfect defense.

“We were hiding [Inferno] because we knew it was really strong,” VINI said after the match when asked about why FURIA took their time to start playing Inferno. “We saw the veto against MIBR and it was our best choice.”
