EA’s venture back into the golfing world is here with their new EA Sports PGA Tour title available now for those with early access. The publisher has ended an eight-year hiatus from the sport as the most recent golf game they released was Rory McIlroy PGA Tour back in 2015.

This left 2K’s PGA franchise with next to no competition as the best golfing game available to fans. However, after a long wait including release date delays, EA Sports PGA Tour looks set to challenge at the top, but will it make the cut?
Roster
The full EA Sports PGA Tour roster has now been revealed, and there are some surprises in the full list of playable golfers. We knew the likes of Jordan Spieth and Tony Finau would be included as they featured heavily in the pre-release content, but some LIV Golf stars have made the cut to our surprise.
Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau are both included in the game, although it is their fellow American Scottie Scheffler who tops the game’s ranking chart, with Nelly Korda the highest-rated member on the LPGA Tour.
Ratings
Each golfer is EA Sports PGA Tour has a unique rating based on five different factors; Power, Driving, Approach, Short Game, and Putting. These five factors are broken down further into smaller attributes including Accuracy, Control, and Recovery.
Unique to each individual player is their Swing Style too, so be sure to check their Handedness, Ball Trajectory, and Preferred Shot Shape to make sure they will suit your playing style!

Cover
Rory McIlroy was the main star of EA’s last golf title back in 2015, but he doesn’t even feature in this year’s game. Tiger Woods would have been another strong candidate for the role of cover athlete, but his exclusive deal with the PGA 2K franchise makes that an impossibility.
With the game cover we have seen so far, it looks unlikely that a cover athlete will be announced, with EA opting instead to use imagery from the iconic Augusta National course on the front of their game.
The inclusion of the Majors and some of golf’s most iconic courses is a major selling point for the game, so it is hardly surprising to see EA make the most of it. Don’t be surprised to see St Andrews used on special editions of the game too as it remains one of the most prestigious courses in the world.
