Dying Light 2 will have 5 years of post launch content but cross play will not be available at launch

Date:

Techland have revealed further details for Dying Light 2: Beyond Human, most notably that game will not have cross play when it launches next month.

In the video chat on Twitch the Lead Game designer for Dying Light 2: Beyond Human, Tymon Smektala, was asked if the game would launch with cross play. “No, not at this moment, it won’t be available,” was his simple answer. He did not reveal if or when it would be added to the game.

Techland have also stated the game will be supported with “at least” five years worth of post launch content.

That’s a lot of content but Techland have not clarified which platforms will get the content. The PC version of Dying Light has been very well supported but the console versions have missed out on updates in the past. The game is launching on PS4 and Xbox One, both of which will be very much out of production in five years time.

Techland have also offered up the first footage of the game running on PS4 and Xbox One but it’s rather short and also compressed in to a smaller frame within the YouTube video. Obviously the want to show the game running at it’s best so previous footage has been from the PC or next-gen consoles.

Techland promise that “more comparisons are coming later this month”, hopefully these will assure gamers who have been burnt by the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition hiding that the fact that the last gen versions of the games ran terribly.

Techland recently tweeted that the game would take 500 hours to complete. They have now revised the timings again and are saying that to finish the just the main story, which is what most players are interested in, will take 20 hours.

“We wanted to clarify our recent communication about the amount of hours required to complete the game. Dying Light 2: Stay Human is designed for players with different gameplay styles and preferences to explore the world how they see fit,” they tweeted.
