Date:

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.

The Department of Commerce has released a request for comment on AI Accountability Policy. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration is requesting comments on AI system accountability measures and policies. NTIA will rely on these comments, along with other public engagements on this topic, to draft and issue a report on AI accountability policy development, focusing especially on the AI assurance ecosystem. DATES: Written comments must be received on or before June 10, 2023.

This request for comment is related to numerous other recent government initiatives to advance trustworthy AI including the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, OSTP’s AI Bill of Rights (“Blueprint”) and NIST’s AI Risk Management Framework. The Computing Community Consortium (CCC) has commented on multiple of these initiatives and answered many calls for comments and requests for information on these documents (listed below).

All comments must be submitted through the Federal e-Rulemaking Portal at www.regulations.gov. Click the “Comment Now!” icon, complete the required fields, and enter or attach your comments. Additional instructions can be found in the “Instructions” section below after “Supplementary Information.”
