Dallas Fuel Moving to APAC Region for 2023 Season

Date:

Another team is making a big change for the upcoming season of the Overwatch League. Players first saw the Philadelphia Fusion relocate to Seoul to become the Seoul Infernal. Shortly after, the Los Angeles Valiant announced they would be coming home to play in the Western region once again. Then on Monday March 6, the Dallas Fuel revealed their plans to change regions for the 2023 season.

Dallas Fuel owner Mike “hastr0” Rufail took to Twitter to let fans know what Dallas has in store for the sixth season of the Overwatch League. Rufail announced that the Dallas Fuel, hot off of their 2020 Championship, will compete in the Eastern region this season.

The move is made with the players in mind first, as this relocation allows the players to play closer to home. The news came as a surprise to local Dallas fans, as it now becomes more difficult to watch their favorite team play on broadcast. As one of the team’s that would routinely hold live events, this departure from the Western region will surely leave a sour taste in some home-town fans.

With the Fuel moving to the APAC region, the competition will be fierce amongst the seven teams in the east. As teams slowly reveal their rosters, the Fuel are already shaping up to be the top contender in their region. Fans will get a chance to watch the Fuel play in region when the league kicks off in April.
