BIG stop NAVI’s winning streak at EPL

Date:

Following a disappointing performance against fnatic, BIG came back on Sunday with a statement victory against Natus Vincere. The 2-0 sweep of the CIS squad ends Natus Vincere‘s nine-game winning streak in all competitions, slowing down their hopes of earning a playoff spot in ESL Pro League.

BIG‘s win today could turn up to be a crucial result for the Germans as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs in the very competitive Group C. They have now tied Natus Vincere at a 2-1 record ahead of their final matches in the group against FaZe and mousesports.

tabseN’s impact on Mirage tipped the balance in favour of the Germans

A close first half on BIG‘s map pick of Dust2 saw Natus Vincere take the early advantage after a triple kill from Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy, but a successful force buy from the Germans was able to slow down the Natus Vincere advance. The CIS squad responded with their own force buy win, enabling them to create a 4-1 lead. BIG managed to equalize 4-4 after a series of successful pushes on the A bombsite, and despite the constant pressure from Natus Vincere, Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz‘s men were able to come out on top with a 8-7 lead following in the first half.

BIG begun their CT side with a flawless pistol round. The conversion of the following anti eco enabled the Germans to extend their lead 11-7. A key 1v2 clutch from Tizian “tiziaN” Feldbusch in round 19 temporarily gave the defense full control of the game, further extending their lead to 14-7. Natus Vincere were not planning to go down without a fight, pulling together four consecutive rounds to close the gap 11-14. BIG quickly found their focus again, securing their fifteenth round after a bold push in middle before securing the last round, taking Dust2 16-11.

Mirage began with Natus Vincere taking the pistol round before an awkward exchange of force buys rounds prevented both teams from stringing together successive wins. A dynamic CT aggression during force buys created a series of chaotic rounds in which the Germans were able to thrive, coming out on top in almost every instance, ending the half 10-5.

Natus Vincere‘s troubles did not end there, with BIG taking the second pistol round in the map, converting the following round, and extending their lead 13-5. The Germans did not slow down, comfortably maintaining their lead and closing out Mirage 16-7 and the series 2-0.
