Arcane at Annie Awards 2022 celebrates the excellence in animation

The Annie Awards 2022 was held on March 12 and included over 30 different categories and a total 0f more than 70 unique participants. The animated Netflix series by Riot Games was the one with the most nominees (nine) among the television/broadcast section. The film Raya and the Last Dragon, on the other hand, scored the highest number of nominees (ten) out of all participants.

Nonetheless, Arcane and The Mitchells vs. The Machines were the ones to sweep the competition, earning respectively 9 and 8 awards. Both productions won all their categories and Arcane was the most “successful” one at this edition of the Annie Awards.

Here are all the categories in which Arcane has won an award during the Annie Awards 2022:

Riot Games’ Arcane is one of the most successful animated series of recent years

2021 was an eventful year for the developers of League of Legends. Not only did they continue working on the game itself, but the company has also worked on many other projects, including the creation of some 3rd party LoL-related games and of course, Arcane.

The series matched the hype and expectations set by fans, as it continued to break all types of records even months after its release. Its main song “Enemy”, produced in collaboration with “old friends” Imagine Dragons (who already worked with Riot back in 2014 for the Worlds Championship song), went on being the most listened song in Spotify’s Global Rock Chart for three consecutive weeks.

Together with the song’s success, Arcane went on becoming the most-watched Netflix series in November 2021. The outcome was so extraordinary that fans were hoping for a sequel… and Riot Games was immediately there to satisfy them. While it won’t be out in 2022, Riot Games has already announced the second season of Arcane, as the series is already in production. If the first season was just the beginning, we can only expect great things from Riot Games in 2023.
