JioMart, an e-commerce retail platform, part of Reliance Industries, has hired Anil Misra as the CHRO for its new commerce – Grocery and B2B business confirms our sources close to the development. As part of his new assignment, Misra will lead the full gamut of HR and people strategy for JioMart’s B2B business — from hiring the right talent to designing the training and learning paths for upskilling employees. Since the Company has plans to grow further, Misra will be leading this growth by devising the future people-strategy agenda for the Company.

Prior to this appointment, Misra was the CHRO at Magicbricks where he worked closely with the CEO and the leadership teams to lead the people function and drive HR initiatives aligned with the goals and objectives of the Company.

Misra has an experience of working in the retail industry in the past. He has served as the head of business HR and senior management at Tesco, which is one of the largest players in the UK retail space.

He comes with more than two decades of experience in HR. In his chequered career, Misra has worked across various sectors, including hospitality, IT, retail, internet services and even real estate.

In the early stages of his career, Misra honed his skills in the HR domain working with companies such as Enercon (which has now been taken over by Wind World), a wind turbine-manufacturing company in India. After two years at Enercon, he moved to Denso, a Japanese company manufacturing automotive parts and accessories. Two years later, he moved on from Denso to Oberoi Hotels and Resorts as head – HR in 2005.
After gaining two years of experience in the hospitality sector, Misra joined Capgemini as a senior manager-HR, in 2007.

In his three-year long stint at Capgemini, Misra’s core responsibility was to design the onboarding and performance-management programme for the new joinees. He was also involved in conceptualising various HR initiatives and programmes at Capgemini. Additionally, Misra was given the responsibility to lead the HR operations for the IT company’s southern region, including Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

In 2010, Misra joined Tesco, a UK-based retail giant leading HR operations for IT, supply chain and commercial with more than 3500 employees in India. At Tesco, Misra was managing the end-to-end people agenda comprising organisational development, talent management and performance management.

Moving forward, Misra joined Just Dial in 2013 as VP & global head of HR, where he was leading the HR operations for the Company for its over 10,000 employees. His next stop was Fidelity National Financial as CHRO two years later, leading the Company’s HR operations in India.

Misra carries an honorary doctorate in human resource excellence from the University of entrepreneurship and technology, New York. He is also Doctor of Philosophy in performance management from Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi.
