WWE 2K22’s Newest Trailer Shows Off its Career and Rey Mysterio Modes

Date:

WWE 2K22

With WWE 2K22 arriving next week, 2K games has released a new trailer showing the career modes in action.

Career modes? Yes, because aside from the wrestling game’s regular career mode (which lets you play as a male or female wrestler), there’s a also a Rey Mysterio mode, which 2K is calling Showcase Mode. This mode will let you relive Rey Mysterio’s 20-year career, including all his major matches.

It probably won’t explain why he, or rather WWE, haven’t been sued by Disney/Marvel for having the same last name as Spider-Man’s fishbowl-headed nemesis, but if you’re a fan of WWE’s own masked luchadores, it should be fun. He’s WWE 2K22’s cover star so it seems logical that the game would put him front and centre.

If, on the other hand, you want to build your own superstar from scratch, you can dive into the MyRise mode. This mode looks set to feature plenty of drama, feuds and so forth, offering the same kind of daft, over-the-top storylines that crop up in the WWE’s regular shows.

WWE 2K22 will feature a massive roster of over 150 wrestlers though, as VGC has pointed out, 20% of those wrestlers no longer work for the WWE. Ouch. It’s set for a March 8th release, arriving on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PC.
