Selling agent Warrick Thorpe, of Nutrien Harcourts SA, said the unusual offering was capturing the imagination of lifestyle buyers.

“There’s nothing like it on the market and we’ve had quite a few people saying that the property made them think of the TV show Yellowstone,” he said.

“While it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, the people that have looked at it love it but because of it’s uniqueness, it’s also been hard to come up with a price because there’s nothing like it on the market.”

Surrounded by bushland, the property is ideally suited for buyers looking to try their hand at hobby farming, with the current owners already running a small herd of beef cattle, sheep and poultry.

However, it’s the ranch-style home that is sure to impress buyers, with the two-level house built from natural and recycled material by the original owners.

Standout features include the red gum bench tops in the kitchen, stone work feature pieces, such as the shower and bath, and mud-brick walls and flooring recycled from an old Adelaide basketball stadium.

Mr Thorpe said the home was fully council approved and – unlike Yellowstone – won’t require the new owners to defend the property from outside threats.

“It’s quite a character property and has all these quirky bits all the way through,” he said.

“I do get asked if it’s fully council approved, and it is, which makes it even more spectacular.

“The property also has a nice winter creek, open grazing land and is a real rugged natural wonder … and has been attracting a range of buyers that love nature.”

Vendors Ric and Jeanette said the property offered the best of both worlds – natural beauty and a great location.

“(It’s) a diverse property with many different elements such as the rocky outcrops, large gum trees, winter creek line, open grazing land and general appeal of the surrounds,” they said. “But it’s also located within easy access to Nairne, the South Eastern Freeway, Mount Barker and Adelaide for products, sporting and community groups and services.

“With the new supermarket in Nairne, the area is getting better and better and the home is positioned out of site and in a private location to enjoy nature and a relaxing country lifestyle.”
