SkyUp Airlines (Kyiv) has a difficult time since it was forced to leave its homeland after the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
The carrier has been flying mainly for other European carriers.
Now the parent has established a Maltese subsidiary called SkyUp MT Limited (SkyUp Europe) in order to be able to fly on its own AOC within the European Union.
With the opening of SkyUp MT, a European airline with Maltese registration and certificates, the airline will begin a cnew chapter.
The Maltese AOC was obtained on May 5, 2023.

The SkyUp brand is officially represented in the EU!
A new airline under our brand, SkyUp MT, has opened in Europe, headquartered in Malta. And as of May 5, 2023, it has received its European Air Operator Certificate and Flight Licence.
This company will now be able to execute wet lease contracts more efficiently. And most importantly, it can operate fully in the EU and perform scheduled flights in the future.
SkyUp MT has even already registered its first aircraft – a Boeing 737-800 with registration number 9H-SAU.
Receiving the operator certificate is the first step of our SkyUp brand in Europe.
