Twitter ‘just exceeded 8 billion user-minutes per day,’ Elon Musk says

Date:

Though naysayers continue to predict the death of Twitter after Elon Musk bought the company last year, the social media platform continues to grow leaps and bounds and attracts millions of new users who felt left before the acquisition. Now, Twitter has become the most influential platform on Earth

Just a few hours ago, Musk just shared the new Twitter usage and the result is more than amazing. For the first time in the history of the site, Musk said that Twitter has exceeded 8 billion user-minute per day, making it one “of the most influential, smartest people on Earth.”

“This platform is growing fast! Just exceeded 8 billion user-minutes per day … of the most influential, smartest people on Earth 😉,” Musk tweeted.

Musk is not alone in talking about Twitter’s insane success. Microstrategy founder and CEO Michael Saylor also chimed in, adding that “Twitter gets 48 billion hours of attention each year.”

But another Twitter user quickly corrected Saylor saying that Twitter gets about 2.9 trillion hours per year, based on Elon Musk’s number.

On April 25, Twitter was sold to Elon Musk for $44 billion. Once completed, the world’s richest person will own arguably the most influential social platform in the world. Immediately after the deal, Musk tweeted:

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” said Mr. Musk. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spambots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”
