The MMORPG Tower of Fantasy is Tencent’s attempt to grow on the success that other games in the genre have obtained in the last years.

Originally released in December last year, Tower of Fantasy was a complete mess, with inferior graphics and an engine that felt lackluster. At this time the release was limited to China.

Since then, however a lot of things have changed, and Tower of Fantasy is growing in popularity. Some of the most significant issues have been addressed, and now the game is ready to compete in the world exploration RPG market.

Tower of Fantasy Release Date

On March 18, 2022, Tencent informed perspective players that Tower of Fantasy was ready for a Global Release.

Even though in the announcement, it was just mentioned that Tower of Fantasy would launch somewhen in 2022. Registration for the Beta version has begun.

Regional Closed Beta

On the Tower of Fantasy official Twitter account, developers let players know that they can register for the closed Beta via their website.

Even though the plans for testing accounts, it is releasing them regionally. (Rumours indicate the first occidental country will be Canada), people interested in getting their hands in this game before everyone else can still register and wait for the release in their country.

Next month’s Closed Beta applications will run from March 15, 2022, until Monday, March 28, 2022.

The game will be available for PC, Android, and IOS. Unfortunately, there is no information about the release of Tower of Fantasy for consoles.

This is an opportunity for Xbox to get into the game, as Nintendo has Legend of Zelda and Playstation offers Genshin Impact.

Tower of Fantasy Gameplay

Tower of Fantasy characters reside on a planet called Aida in the distant future. Humanity has run out of resources on Earth, they had to make the ultimate decision of migrating to a different planet.

Being an MMORPG and Gacha, the initial comparison is with Genshin Impact. However, Tower of Fantasy has more similarities with another miHoYo game, Honkai Impact 3rd.

To the point that Tower of Fantasy apologized when they were caught using assets from Honkai Impact. Both games are situated in futuristic worlds.

While Genshin Impact is a PvE experience, Tower of Fantasy and Honkai Impact include PvP modes, a significant difference that could evolve the genre even further.
