Majora’s Mask joins Nintendo Switch Online’s N64 library in February

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack in February, Nintendo has confirmed. It keeps up the regular pace of adding one N64 game per month, after the addition of Paper Mario in December and Banjo-Kazooie just yesterday. Save Termina before it’s met with a terrible fate! The Legend of #Zelda: Majora's Mask comes to #NintendoSwitch for #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion Pack members in February! #Nintendo64 pic.twitter.com/WN2Q0Wqc8Q — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) January 21, 2022   The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask was the second Zelda title released for Nintendo 64, following on from the revolutionary Ocarina of Time. While it plays second fiddle to Link’s first 3D outing in many ways, this was a no-less adventurous and innovative game that has come to be appreciated as one of the very best games in the series. A direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, it sees Link get trapped in a world-ending time loop, with just 72-hours in-game (around 54 minutes in the real world) before the grinning moon crashes into Termina and sends you back to the start. Back in the day, this was one of just two games that required the Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak. Other games could be enhanced, but just Majora’s Mask and Donkey Kong 64 made it a requirement. The Expansion Pak added 4MB of RAM to the console and allowing for more detailed textures, a longer draw distance and more. It’s what the higher priced tier of Nintendo Switch Online was named after. Further Reading: Is Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s N64 emulation good enough? It’s another fan-pleasing addition to Expansion Pack, but continues to demonstrate that Nintendo are content to release games at a slow pace. Nintendo Switch Online – Expansion Pack launched at the end of October, featuring a higher price point than the regular Switch Online subscription but promising a growing library of N64 and Sega Mega Drive games. The initial offering included nine N64 titles, with games like Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Lylat Wars and more included. This was then expanded to include Paper Mario in December, and Banjo-Kazooie yesterday. However, as soon as Expansion Pack launched, users complained about the quality of the game emulation that Nintendo was providing, with graphical deficiencies compared to previous efforts that weren’t always consistent or authentic to the original games. Nintendo has yet to address these complaints, though it’s doubtful that they’ll make a big song and dance about it, because that would mean admitting anything was wrong in the first place. Future additions to Nintendo Switch Online have already been confirmed, though it’s just a case of waiting to find out when games like F-Zero X, Kirby 64, and Pokémon Snap are added.

First Trailer For GameStop Short Squeeze Movie Has Arrived

The GameStop meme stock drama was one of the biggest stories of 2021 in the financial and technology spheres, and there are multiple films based on it in the works. One of them is called GameStop: Rise to the Players, and now the first trailer and poster for it have arrived.

The documentary covers the origin of the GameStop "stock market phenomenon" in 2021, featuring some of the "original players who lit the fuse on a historic amateur investing uprising."

"Spotlighting the human side of a sensational business drama, Gamestop: Rise of the Players is a David vs. Goliath tale about ordinary people waking up to the power they have in numbers," reads a line from its description. The movie opens in theaters on January 28.

The film is directed by Jonah Tulis, who previously made the movie Console Wars that documented the battle between Nintendo and Sega in the '90s. Blake J. Harris, who co-directed that movie and wrote the book it was based on, is a producer on GameStop: Rise to the Players, alongside Dan Braun and Josh Braun.

In addition to this film, MGM purchased the rights to Ben Mezrich's book The Antisocial Network: The GameStop Short Squeeze and the Ragtag Group of Amateur Traders That Brought Wall Street to Its Knees. Mezrich previously wrote Bringing Down The House, which was adapted for the 2008 drama 21 starring Kevin Spacey, Jim Sturgess, and Laurence Fishburne. Mezrich's other popular book, The Accidental Billionaires, told the story of the founding of Facebook. It would later be adapted for the Oscar-winning movie The Social Network starring Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg.

In January 2021, GameStop's share price exploded due in part to investors on Reddit's Wall Street Bets subreddit and other forums taking aim at the institutional investors who were "shorting" the stock. This created what's known as a "short squeeze," and GameStop's share price blasted off to record heights. After trading at under $5 per share, the stock exploded above $500, making some people incredibly wealthy, at least on paper. The company's share price has since fallen back down, but it's still above $100 per share today, making it very lucrative for a group of people.

GameStop is now being run by Ryan Cohen, the billionaire founder of the pet food company Chewy.

Shenmue animated series gets February release date

Shenmue: The Animation - a, yes, animated adaptation of Sega's cult classic 1999 Dreamcast game - finally has a release date and will be down at the docks, eyeing up sailors, from 5th February on Crunchyroll and Adult Swim.

Banjo-Kazooie is coming to Nintendo Switch Online’s N64 library tomorrow

Rare’s classic N64 platformer Banjo-Kazooie is coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack game library tomorrow, 20th January. The game will be playable via emulation for all members of the more expensive subscription. Embark on a wild quest with an unlikely pair! The adventures of Banjo and Kazooie begin here! Banjo-Kazooie is coming to #NintendoSwitch for #NintendoSwitchOnline + Expansion Pack members on 1/20! #Nintendo64 pic.twitter.com/R349r8gbvD — Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) January 19, 2022 Banjo-Kazooie was a 3D platforming icon that emerged in the wake of Super Mario 64 revolutionised the genre. The game stars Banjo the bear and his truty feathered companion Kazooie as they set off on an adventure to rescue Banjo’s sister Tooty who has been kidnapped by Gruntilda the witch. Adding Banjo-Kazooie is an example of Nintendo managing to navigate the tricky waters of game licensing. While the game was released when Rare was owned by Nintendo in the 1990s, the studio was acquired by Microsoft in the early 2000s and the IP that they had created (such as Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark) went with them. For the bird and bear to return to Switch, Microsoft will have licensed the game to Nintendo. Some have speculated that needing to cut licensing deals is part of the reason why the Expansion Pack is a paid add-on to Switch Online.
