Rainbow Six Extraction – Every Operator and Gadget

In Rainbow Six Extraction you’re tasked with defending humanity from an alien threat known as the Archaeans. To do this you’ll need the best of the best, REACT having recruited an elite team of Operators from the Tom Clancy universe. Each Rainbow Six Extraction Operator has their own defining traits. While they all perform the same basic action while out on a mission, you’ll need to account for their unique gadgets as well as weapon loadouts and stats. Not every Operator from Rainbow Six Siege is available to play here. The developers at Ubisoft have formed a crack team of 18 characters plucked from various counterterrorism units from around the globe. This number is set to expand with regular content updates. Rainbow Six Extraction Operator & Gadget List The current list of playable characters includes: Doc – STIM Pistol Pulse – HB-7 Cardiac Sensor Finka – Adrenalin Boost Hibana – X-KAIROS Grenade Launcher Vigil – ERC (Electronic Rendering Cloak) Lion – EE-ONE-D Drone Alibi – PRISMA Volumetric Display Device Sledge – Tactical Breaching Hammer Ela – GRZMOT Concussive Mines Smoke – Z9 Toxic Gas Grenades Nomad – AIRJAB Repulsion Grenades Gridlock – TRAX Stinger Anti-Personnel Traps IQ – R.E.D SPECTRE Electronics Detector Jager – MAGPIE Automated Defense System (ADS) Rook – Boron-Ceramic Armor Plates Capitao – TAC Mk0 Crossbow Fuze – APM-6 Cluster Charges Tachanka – DP-28 mounted Light Machine Gun Rainbow Six Extraction Operators – how to unlock You’ll only start out with a handful of REACT agents when starting the game. You’ll unlock more of them as you play missions, complete research studies, and level up your roster. More Operators will become available once you high milestone rank 5, then 10, then 17. You should breeze past the first few milestone ranks though there is a fair amount of grind to obtain the full Rainbow Six Extraction roster. Which Operator should I pick? From what we’ve played there are no Rainbow Six Extraction Operators you should avoid or pick every time. It really depends on your own playstyle: whether you want speed over stopping, firepower over stealth etc. Give each member of the team a trial run, whether in solo or co-op, learning where best to use their signature gadget. If playing with randoms you’ll ideally want an Operator with decent survivability who can easily scout and ping targets. Coordinating with a squad helps open your options when it comes to team composition. Ideally you’ll want one squadmate who can heal, one who can mark targets, and one capable of clearing a path through the map. Of course, there’s scope to switch things up. Gadgets have a variety of uses, such as distracting enemies, highlighting supplies, or even deploying a mounted machine gun. Thanks, Tachanka.

For Honor’s new Pirate hero joins the fight next week

Ubisoft has revealed its new For Honor. The Pirate has set sail for the fighting game’s expanding roster and will be playable from January 27, 2022. You can catch the latest episode of Ubisoft’s Warriors’ Den in which the developers showcase this swashbuckling new hero. The Pirate stands out for a number of reasons. She doesn’t fit the typical medieval fighter archetype, wielding a cutlass in one hand and a pistol in the other, using them in tandem during combat. The reveal trailer gives us a taste of how this new fighter will play with a sneak peak at some of her moves, executions, and cosmetic gear. For those For Honor lore buffs, here’s the lowdown on the latest hero: The people of Heathmoor were afflicted with rising waters and a devastating storm that flooded the landscape. Thankfully, the storm passed, and though the skies began to clear, a cold winter settled in. The high waters froze, and snow covered the terrain. Ships were stuck in the ice, which only added to the odd serenity that had befallen Heathmoor. After so many hardships, so many battles and natural catastrophes, the people took this small respite as an opportunity to reconnect. After being separated for so long, friends and families were reunited once again, and everyone took the time to count their blessings, and celebrate. But amid the festivities, something unforeseen came from the frozen sea. A large ship with red sails reached the harbor, the herald of uncertainty – and intrigue. Naturally, fans of the fighting game are already asking what comes next. For Honor is fast approaching its fifth birthday which raises questions as to whether we can expect a Year 6 roadmap loaded with fresh content. The arrival of new heroes, maps, and modes has slowed over time. 2021 brought us the Kyoshin whereas 2020 saw Apollyon, and the wandering mercenary, Gryphon, make their debut. That said, the team at Ubisoft Montreal have been tirelessly looking to tweak and rebalance its sizeable cast of fighters, each with their own unique fighting styles. Hopefully the upcoming stream will give us a tiny glimpse of what to expect throughout the year. In the meantime, we’ll be revisiting For Honor this year for our updated 2022 review.

Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season 2 delayed to fix major bugs

Call of Duty Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season 2 has been delayed, Activision has officially confirmed. The new start date for S2 has been pushed back to February 14, 2022. This push back to Valentine’s Day is in response to major issues across Call of Duty Vanguard, Warzone Pacific, and Modern Warfare, with developers working on updates for each game. “We will use this additional development time to deliver updates, including optimizations to gameplay,” reads the latest community blog. This will include weapon balancing for a fairer playing field, as well as important bugs fixes and stability improvements. Activision reminds players that these updates are being rolled out across multiple games, spanning a whole host of platforms, and two console generations. While some will see the Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season 2 delay as a disappointment, others agree that it’s the best decision. In recent weeks there have been a growing number of reports of frustrating bugs and performance issues – it doesn’t make sense for Call of Duty to go live with its first major content drop of 2022 without some crucial clean-up work first. It’s a strange time for the power-selling first person shooter series. Developer Sledgehammer Games wasn’t able to capitalise on the franchise’s momentum with last year’s Call of Duty Vanguard. At least in terms of sales, prompting speculation that this year’s entry could release a little sooner in the year. Then, of course, there’s Microsoft’s acquisition of publisher Activision. Nothing’s been set in stone though there’s a chance we could see Call of Duty become an Xbox exclusive from 2023 onwards, a landmark shift for the genre and industry at large. In our review we scored Vanguard a mighty 9/10 for its cinematic story campaign, sharp multiplayer, and reworked Zombies: The stars have aligned for Call of Duty: Vanguard. For the first time, this truly feels like a full package without any caveats. Sure, some parts are naturally stronger than others but there isn’t a weak link in sight. After back to back triumphs, Call of Duty is now on a killstreak. Source: Call of Duty

Splitgate map maker and Season 1 content arrives January 27th

Splitgate will soon be adding a map maker among other new content and features, developer 1047 has announced. The official start date for Splitgate Beta Season 1 is now confirmed as January 27, 2022, the studio dropping a new teaser trailer.   The 10 second video really doesn’t give away much, though there’s plenty to get excited for as we wave goodbye to Season 0. Here are some major highlights from the upcoming Splitgate update. Splitgate Beta Season 1 Contents A powerful custom map maker tool An overhaul of the Foregone Destruction map A new battle pass complete with 100 tiers A new referral pass Themed cosmetics including weapon, skin, and accessory designs Two additional game modes including Evolution and One Flag Capture-The-Flag Easily the most exciting feature coming to Splitgate the map creator. Players can team up with friends to build their own virtual arenas, placing objects, weapons, spawn points, building blocks, portal walls using simple intuitive tools. We’ll have more to share on this new feature as well as the rest of Season 1 in an upcoming preview. Meanwhile, Splitgate die-hards will delight in what 1047 has done with Foregone Destruction. The popular map has been thoroughly optimised and enhanced with improved lighting, textures, and environmental detail with changes to the layout for better game flow. This will be an indication of how the team will approach map designs in the future. What happened to Arena Shooters? However, it’s the new modes we’re looking forward to most. Evolution will see two teams face off across ten rounds, each player having one life. The twist? If you team loses a round, they’ll go into the next with a more powerful arsenal of weapons. One Flag CTF will also be thrown into the mix from January 27th, tasking one team with attacking and the other defending. Splitgate originally launched on Steam early access way back in mid 2019. Although it enjoyed a generally positive reception during those early tests, it wasn’t until last summer that the game became a major hit. Thousands upon thousands of gamers flocked to the genius arena shooter as 1047 Games scrambled to increase server capacity. Things have calmed down a lot since then, the studio having gained a substantial investment, driving them towards becoming a AAA outfit. Source: Press Release

Marvel’s Avengers characters we want to see in-game Update 1.58 doles out some welcome fixes alongside combat tweaks and other minor adjustments to improve the game on all platforms. Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have said nothing on who they intend to add as the next playable hero in Marvel’s Avengers. It’s fair to say that, while he had some neat tricks, Spider-Man’s arrival didn’t go down well with fans. On one hand, PlayStation gamers were disappointed by the lack of a new mini-campaign for the webslinger. Meanwhile, those playing on other systems were still miffed at Spider-Man’s PlayStation exclusivity. Rainbow Six Extraction – Is the alien shooter spin-off worth playing?

Rainbow Six Extraction takes the fraught SWAT vs. terrorists action found throughout the rest of the popular shooter series and replaces that particular threat to modern life with something completely out of this world. Aliens. There’s aliens in a Tom Clancy game. The “Archaean” menace has emerged in a handful of locations around the world, first in New York City, then in San Francisco and beyond, with Rainbow Six Operators coordinating under the REACT backronym to contain, study and eventually eradicate this threat. Thankfully, these aren’t aliens rocking up with a great big space ship and blowing up the White House and Pyramids, but rather the kind of aliens that will happily nest and mill around until a danger presents itself. As Rainbow’s elite operators, you’re having to head into an alien-infested hot zones – or “la zona caliente”, as one character calls them, Ubisoft ticking the big box for diversity with a crayon. If you want an idea as to how much playable content there is, Rainbow Six Extraction features four regions that each house three hot zones where you’ll be deployed. Each of these incursions gives your team of three a trio of tasks to complete as you move from one part of the map to the next, from taking down elite enemies, to destroying special spawning pods, rescuing humans, and the like. The immediate inclination of most gamers would be to run into the fray head first, but that’s really not the best way to go about things. Instead, you still need to play it a bit like Rainbow Six Siege shooter, and can rely on many of the same tools. In particular, the default gear gives players a recon drone that lets you scout ahead and mark aliens for team, and you can reinforce walls and doorways for when objectives need you to defend certain points. You can pick up the pace somewhat, though. The Archaeans are a pretty dopey bunch as you saunter into the levels, milling around like zombies until they spot you or are alerted by explosions and gunfire. Even then, they’re predominantly melee and explosive enemies that need to get close up, while spawn pods sprout on floors, walls and ceilings to add enemies to an area once they’re alerted. By and large, this means that, even when things do get spicy in the opening locations, you can deal with the danger. It’s only certain enemies that will fire from range, and while you don’t have automatically recharging health, you can take a decent bit of damage. Old school Rainbow Six this is not! Perhaps the most interesting system within Rainbow Six Extraction is that there’s persistence between rounds. Your characters will need to heal up if you come out having taken a fair bit of damage, and if you’re KO’d and your team wipes or isn’t able to extract your body, then that character will be MIA and need rescuing in a later incursion. It’s a smart system that forces you to mix things up with character selection, and provides some light stakes to mission failure. If all of your characters are left MIA, then the first one you lost will be unlocked so you can still play. There’s some good ideas at play here, and it’s competently put together, but so far Rainbow Six Extraction feels fairly flat. The Archaeans simply aren’t all that interesting to fight against, their designs rather bland, and their introduction sitting at odds with what the Rainbow Six and Tom Clancy franchises have been about since the late 90s. It’s an inoffensive tactical co-op that’s good for a few short and sharp missions, but is that enough? We’ll report back soon with our full review. Rainbow Six Extraction is available from 20th January on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as well Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. You can also grab it via Xbox Game Pass.

A new For Honor hero will be revealed this week

Ubisoft is preparing to reveal a new For Honor hero this week. The latest fighter to join the game’s ever-growing roster will be unveiled during an upcoming Warrior’s Den stream. This stream can be caught over on Twitch at 5PM GMT, January 20, 2022, and should give us an in-depth look at the hero’s design, lore, weapon, and moveset. Ubisoft has confirmed that this latest addition to For Honor will arrive a week later on January 27, 2022, as we close out Year 5 Season 4. What do we know about this new hero? The teaser video doesn’t give us a clear look, though they appear to be wielding a short sword – maybe a cutlass? There definitely seems to be a pirate theme to the new season as hinted at in the latest lore entry: The people of Heathmoor were afflicted with rising waters and a devastating storm that flooded the landscape. Thankfully, the storm passed, and though the skies began to clear, a cold winter settled in. The high waters froze, and snow covered the terrain. Ships were stuck in the ice, which only added to the odd serenity that had befallen Heathmoor.
