Skull and Bones Roadmap Revealed

Date:

Ubisoft has just revealed the Skull and Bones Roadmap. Learn everything there is to know about the future of the online PvPvE pirate extravaganza.

Skull and Bones is about to release and after over 10 years of development, Ubisoft’s promise of an open-world online pirate adventure is finally a reality. The game has come a long way from a competitive version of Assassins Creed IV Black Flag’s maritime warfare to a full-blown sandbox where players explore, loot, and leave their mark.

And Ubisoft has put a lot of stock into the title. Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot called it the first AAAA title and it’s clear that the French publishing heavyweight has huge plans for it.

Skull and Bones Roadmap – Everything You Need to Know

This isn’t Ubisoft’s first rodeo with life service titles. In between bouts of single-player titles, the studio has gotten comfortable with updating their titles continuously long after their original release. Be it the Division, Rainbow Six Siege, or For Honor. All of these titles still run today with strong communities that appreciate the developer’s transparency.

Ahead of its launch on February 16, 2024, Ubisoft announced its Year 1 Roadmap titled The Rise of the Kingpins which aims to bring a steady stream of updates throughout the next year, stretched across 4 different seasons.

As you can see in the graphic, these seasons will follow roughly the same outline. Introducing new battle content with major Kingpins to face off against, battles against Sea Monsters, and further additions to the sandbox as well as new content to play.

We also know that these seasons will all come with a Battle Pass which will presumedly line up with them. Each of these seasons will last for approximately 12 weeks which will also reset the leaderboards. The price point of the Battle Pass is yet to be determined but they will most likely come at a premium with a free component for owners of the game.

Skull and Bones release on February 16, 2024, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. You’ll also be able to play the game via the Ubisoft subscription service Ubisoft+ at no additional cost.
