Seasoned blockchain entrepreneur Nikola Stojanow launches new venture capital firm focused on blockchain

Date:

Nikola Stojanow, æternity Blockchain co-founder and creator of AE Ventures investment company has begun his next journey with the creation of a new venture capital fund aimed at blockchain.

Meta Change Capital will invest into blockchain developments within emerging markets.

The firm is hoping to raise €100m for its maiden fund, with a first close expected for Q1 2020.

Stojanow said, “I see the largest potential and supply of talent await in countries where blockchain is a tenfold leap to existing infrastructure that is crumbling, non-existent or old.

“MCC’s will focus on underdeveloped parts of Europe, MENA, Asia, Africa – especially parts where the capital will have significant impact.”

Meta Change Capital will agnostically invest into all next generation blockchains, backing them from Series A and beyond.

The funds will be domiciled in Cayman Islands and the Investment Manager will be regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority.

Stojanow helped to develop the æternity blockchain ecosystem alongside its founder Yanislav Malahov. He helped the company complete one of the largest blockchain token sales.

Yanislav Malahov added, “æternity was founded to be a tool for communities to build a better future. While growing æternity for the next generation, I will also join MCC as an investor / limited partner as this is part of the long-term strategy of the blockchain towards interoperability.”

Following working at æternity, Stojanow moved on to establish AE Ventures. The firm acted as an investment arm for entrepreneurs leveraging the æternity blockchain.

Through Starfleet, a decentralized acceleration programme, Stojanow has helped more than 20 early-stage startups.

Joining Stojanow at Meta Change Capital will be Luka Sucic, the former head of investments and acceleration at AE Ventures.

Stojanow said, “I see the world changing and believe that cooperation is the key word driving progress forward. What startups really need is an approach that helps them work with various blockchains technologies but also hands-on business support to navigate uncharted waters.

“At MCC, we aim to capitalize on our expertise, experience, and connections to build a next generation fund that will combine blockchain and VC worlds.”
