Original: Rumors have been circulating over the past few days regarding Xbox bringing some of its previous games to other platforms, with Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves named as potential titles for Switch. Speculation points to the former being more likely than the latter (for now).

Talk began after NateDrake, during an episode of his latest podcast, claimed that “Microsoft will be dabbling in bringing a first-party game to a competitor platform in 2024.” lolilolailo, who has previously leaked some other information, backed up the report by indicating that there are plans for Hi-Fi Rush on Switch.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Jeff Grubb – who has gotten things both right and wrong when it comes to gaming rumors – seems to think that Sea of Thieves is a possibility for Switch. He said during the Game Mess Mornings show today:

“Sea of Thieves, right – I’ll say I’ve heard that is one that might be coming to other platforms. When I first started hearing these rumors, I was like, ‘Oh this is probably about Sea of Thieves, because I’ve heard that could come to Switch and PlayStation.’ And maybe that might be the kind of thing where like actually all of this stuff is happening, and Microsoft is kind of trying to rejigger its strategy.”

If nothing else, one of the big takeaways here is that Microsoft seems to be strongly looking into bringing some of its prior Xbox games to other platforms. Whether anything concrete turns out for Nintendo remains to be seen.

Update: An Australian classification is now going around that was added to the database on December 15, 2022. It’s listed as “Project 2022A”, but has its more recent Hi-Fi Rush rating attached to it. Some are taking this as further evidence that the game is coming to Switch, but there’s still nothing official at this time.
