PlayStation VR Version of Swords of Gargantua Confirmed for December

Date:

After an initial tease earlier in the year, combat title Sword of Gargantua was due for a summer launch on PlayStation VR. This was delayed by developer Thirdverse Inc. (formerly Yomuneco) because, like many, the change of working conditions hampered progress. Today though, the studio has now confirmed the launch will take place in a couple of weeks.

Swords of Gargantua

Already available for PC VR headset and the Oculus Quest platform, PlayStation VR is the last major virtual reality (VR) headset to get a version of Swords of Gargantua. Mixing realistic swordplay with magical elements, the aim is to fight through floors of deadly knights with the end goal to defeat the giant Gargantua on the deepest layer, Floor 101.

Offering both single-player and online co-op for a maximum of four players, Swords of Gargantua provides a wide variety of weapons to master such as one and two-handed swords, axes, maces, boomerangs and shields. They all have their own attributes depending on whether players prefer a fast rapier or a slow yet powerful broadsword. Like any good sword fighting experience blocking, parrying, and attacking are all there to be mastered.

In addition to finding that ideal setup, all of these weapons as well as the player abilities can be upgraded along the way. Each play through will award more weapons and coins, combine excess weapons to make more powerful ones.

Playthrough’s will vary every time, giving players different floor advancement choices along the away. They can play it safe, choose a lesser floor and deal with more battles, or skip deeper and face tougher enemies alongside major debuffs.

The PlayStation VR version will include the ‘Tesseract Abyss’ adventure mode adding more role-playing game (RPG) style elements, continuing to evolve their abilities whilst tackling new challenges.

Swords of Gargantua for PlayStation VR is now expected to launch on 8th December 2020 in English and Japanese for $29.99 USD. For further updates from Thirdverse Inc. – which will be publishing Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds in December as well – keep reading VRFocus.
