Sony's vernieuwde PlayStation Plus-service is nu slechts een week verwijderd van de eerste lancering en we hebben nu een idee welke games zullen worden opgenomen als onderdeel van de huidige en klassieke gamecatalogi.
Ter herinnering: de nieuwe PlayStation Plus-niveaus zullen op 23 juni hier in het VK aankomen, net als elders in Europa, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland. Dit volgt op de lancering van de dienst in Amerika op 13 juni, Japan op 2 juni en Azië volgende week op 24 mei.
De PS4- en PS5-gamecatalogus wordt meegeleverd met zowel de nieuwe Extra- als Premium-tiers en bevat tal van recente PlayStation-exclusives, waaronder Returnal, Death Stranding: Director's Cut, Demon's Souls, Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut en Horizon Zero Dawn.
Grote namen van buiten Sony's eigen studio's zijn onder meer Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Control: Ultimate Edition, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (schijnbaar tegelijkertijd beschikbaar via Xbox Game Pass) en Red Dead Redemption 2. Indies omvat Celeste, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight en Outer Wilds.
Op weg naar de aanvullende catalogus van klassieke games van het Premium-niveau, vind je hier "verbeterde framesnelheden en resolutie van hogere kwaliteit". Sommige "geselecteerde" originele PlayStation- en PSP-games bieden ook de mogelijkheid om op elk moment op te slaan of terug te spoelen.
Als je de digitale versie van deze games al hebt, hoef je ze niet opnieuw te kopen of je te abonneren om ze te spelen. Slechts enkele zullen echter afzonderlijk te koop zijn.
In deze lijst met klassieke games van PlayStation-studio's zijn Ape Escape, Hot Shots Golf, Jumping Flash! en Siphon Filter van de originele PlayStation, evenals Worms Armageddon en Mr. Driller van externe studio's.
Geremasterde versies van Ape Escape 2 en Naughty Dog's Jak-series uit het PS4-tijdperk zullen ook worden opgenomen, evenals BioShock Remastered, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning en de Lego Harry Potter Collection .
Premium-bezitters krijgen ook een selectie van PS3-games via gamestreaming, om te spelen op PS4, PS5 en pc. Deze omvatten Demon's Souls, Ico, Infamous, MotorStorm Apocalypse, Eurogamer-favoriet Tokyo Jungle, plus Ratchet & Clank-games Quest for Booty, A Crack in Time en Into the Nexus.
Streaminggames van derden zijn onder meer Enslaved, Asura's Wrath en de zombie-spin-off Undead Nightmare van Red Dead Redemption.
Ten slotte krijgen Premium-bezitters een selectie van twee uur durende proefversies van games voor recente releases. Deze omvatten met name Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection en Horizon Forbidden West, plus Cyberpunk 2077 en Tiny Tina's Wonderland.
Dit is slechts een selectie van de games die we verwachten op de service, die ook elke maand vernieuwd zal worden. De eerste dinsdag van elke maand zullen nieuwe games worden toegevoegd aan alle niveaus van de nieuwe PlayStation Plus – hetzelfde als nu – terwijl een update halverwege de maand nieuwe games zal toevoegen aan de catalogi van zowel Plus Extra als Premium-niveaus.
De details van vandaag volgen enige verwarring en kritiek van bestaande PlayStation Plus-bezitters die hebben geprobeerd en er niet in zijn geslaagd stapel Plus-lidmaatschappen van tevoren. Inderdaad, de mogelijkheid om huidige Plus-lidmaatschappen te verlengen werd volledig geblokkeerd door Sony totdat de nieuwe, vernieuwde lagen worden gelanceerd.
