NIP brutalize Astralis in first meeting with device; FURIA send MOUZ to elimination matches

Date:

Nicolai “device” Reedtz has claimed victory in the much-anticipated first outing against his former team, with NIP absolutely demolishing Astralis 16-1 on Inferno to go up 2-0 in the Legends Stage of PGL Major Stockholm.

Meanwhile, FURIA dealt MOUZ a crushing loss on the same map, sending Christopher “dexter” Nong‘s side down to the best-of-three elimination matches — the second time the European mixture will need to fight back from a deficit following their lackluster Challengers Stage bid.

Astralis seemed to stand no chance in the match against their former star. The Swedish side were the ones in control from the onset of the map, led by multi-kill rounds from Hampus “hampus” Poser initially, but with the rest of the team stepping up to bat as the match carried on.

It was a flawless string of twelve rounds that went the way of the Ninjas before Astralis finally got their first on the board, courtesy of a 1vs3 clutch from Philip “Lucky” Ewald. However, that single round did little other than help Astralis avoid being 16-0’d as NIP immediately got back in the driver’s seat, a triple kill from Linus “LNZ” Holtäng quickly being converted as the Swedes wasted no time in closing out the map.

FURIA, meanwhile, beat MOUZ in their own Inferno match, led by a strong strong showing from their newest addition André “drop” Abreu. Although the European combine had an early lead on the map, 5-3, FURIA put on a convincing performance on the T side to pull ahead 9-6 at the break.

A pistol round win following the side swap allowed MOUZ to add two more rounds to their tally, but once guns were in the hands of the Brazilian side, the match took a grim turn for dexter and company, who only won one additional round as FURIA cruised to a 16-9 finish.
