Rising Stars of K-Pop’s 4th Generation

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the League of Legends Worlds Anthem. Here to bring down the house for this historic occasion is the rising K-Pop act, NewJeans.

NewJeans has already established itself as a dominating force in K-Pop. Comprised of members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, NewJeans has dominated since debuting in the summer of 2022. NewJeans became the first K-Pop act to eclipse 1 million album sales with their debut album, NewJeans. 

The EP’s second single, Hype Boy, charted on Billboard Global 200 for 37 consecutive weeks, a record for any Korean girl group. Rolling Stones listed it as the best K-Pop song of 2022. NewJeans also broke a Guinness World Record by becoming the fastest K-Pop act to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify since making their debut. 

Racking up brand endorsements and chart toppings like there’s no tomorrow, NewJeans is quickly becoming one of the brightest stars of K-Pop’s fourth generation. And they will be the headline artists this year for League of Legends 2023 Worlds Anthem, GODS. 

Speaking on the opportunity to perform this year’s Worlds Anthem, NewJeans said, “It was a new experience for all of us. It was fun to try a new genre and sound. Through this collaboration, we are happy to present a song that incorporates both NewJeans’ and League of Legends’ unique colors. We hope it brings you a new sense of empowerment!”

The GODS of League of Legends: The Rise of Deft

Written and composed by seasoned Riot Games principal composer Sebastien Najand and Alex Seaver of Mako, fans can watch the GODS music video at 10 pm PT October 3 / 2 pm KST October 4 and grab the track anywhere you listen to music. 

The 2023 Worlds Music Video will chronicle the journey of Korean League of Legends player Kim Deft Hyuk-kyu. It will take fans through his humble beginnings in high school, leading up to Deft winning it all at Worlds 2022.
