More than 10 million people signed up for X (formerly Twitter) so far in December, X CEO Linda Yaccarino said in a post on the social media platform on Thursday. This equates to an impressive average of 61,000 signups per hour.

Interestingly, X’s signup record arrives amidst widespread reports in the mainstream media predicting the death of Twitter (X). Leading the pack is TechCrunch, a prominent tech news outlet, which has been leading the charge in these predictions. The tech media outlet recently wrote a hit piece titled, “The end of Elon.”
It’s worth mentioning that TechCrunch, once an independent tech blog, has taken on a different stance since its acquisition by AOL in September 2010, aligning more closely with globalist media narratives with more negative content about Elon Musk and his companies. However, it seems that those at TechCrunch might have missed the memo that “anyone who has bet against Elon Musk has lived to regret it.”
X, known for not regularly divulging user data, was not immediately available for comment on how the December sign-up numbers stack up against the usual trends, or why Yaccarino decided to share this particular figure. For context, back in July, billionaire owner Elon Musk mentioned that the site boasted 540 million monthly users.
Late last month, Musk expressed his frustration with advertisers following the decision of major Fortune 500 companies including Apple, Disney, IBM, Warner Bros Discovery, and Comcast to halt their advertisements on X.
In a tense interview with Andrew Ross-Sorkin at the DealBook Conference, Musk silenced a room of elites saying, “…If someone wants to blackmail me with advertising, they can go f**k themselves.” He also added that he doesn’t want these companies to advertise. But, he also admitted that “an advertising boycott will kill X.”
